Happy 30th Empire!!!
Ok, so 30 years ago today my dad was a 26 years old guy, in a queue to see a film that would turn his youngest daughter, born 10 years later, into a true Star Wars Geek. At the tender age of 5, he had me cowering behind the sofa, watching that scene where Luke has his hand slashed off, and gets dead upset that his dad walks round in a black leather suit, choking all whom annoy him with his mind.
The cast and crew were certainly commendable for this instalment, travelling all the way to the icy sheets of Norway to create the glorious planet Hoth, the icy planet located far on the Outer Rim, and the home to the Wampas, the yetis of the Star Wars Universe. The Wampa has even been commemorated in Celebration V, with a limited edition rug (On my birthday list).The Empire Strikes Back is so significant to Star Wars fans, for being the moment where evil actually seems to triumph over the good guys. Luke is rescued, having discovered his father is a psycho, one hand, his friend frozen in carbonite and sold to the highest bidder and everyone in the audience feeling pretty dejected. However it’s only three years until the Return of the Jedi, and frankly that 30th celebration is one I really can’t wait for.
